How do you approach answering this kind of interview question?
Maybe you are looking for a 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘮𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯.
Maybe you want to join a 𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘺.
It’s important to ask yourself what 𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘶𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘦𝘹𝘤𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘴/𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶 about this role (besides the salary, perhaps!).
Start asking yourself questions like
🖊 What is different about this role versus my current role?
🖊 What new opportunities do I get in this role?
🖊 How will I get to use my skills in this role?
🖊 What extra responsibilities will I have?
💡 Maybe in this new role, you get to engage more with stakeholders. And that’s an opportunity to expand your skillset, and add more value directly to operations.
💡 Maybe your current role doesn’t involve a lot of modelling. And that’s an area you are skilled at/excited to develop in.
What if your day-to-day work is similar in the new role?
➡ Well, maybe you get a bit more authority. Meaning you can influence decision-making, influence strategy, and have a 𝐛𝐢𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 on the company.
Start asking yourself questions like these.
And you are not only expressing your 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐬𝐦 for the role.
